The Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts announces that applications are now being accepted for grants for art supplies for 2026-27. This program is designed to assist art teacher with special programs that require items not included in their existing budgets. Teachers are encouraged to apply for projects that include multi-disciplinary topics, as well as joint initiatives such as artists-in-residence with other organizations such as the Alabama Arts Council.  All participating schools will be invited to display the children’s artwork at Arts Alive 2O27.

Who? All Elementary, Middle, & High School Art teachers in the Shoals area may apply for an Arts in Education Grant.

What? Arts in Education Grants provide funding to assist with special projects that require supplies not included in the existing class budget.

How? The Kennedy-Douglass Volunteers are a non-profit 501(c)(3). Through local fundraising events such as Arts Alive, the KD Volunteers are able to provide support for the arts through this Arts in Education Grant Program.

Upon completion of projects funded by the Arts in Education Grant Program, recipients must provide all receipts of purchases made, along with a written or oral report to the Kennedy-Douglass Volunteers Grant Committee.
