Our goal is to provide accessible and affordable opportunities to explore a wide range of artistic expressions in a supportive setting. Whether you're just beginning your artistic journey or looking to expand your skills, the KD Art Lab is here to spark creativity and build community through meaningful hands-on experiences.

This class invites students ages 9-12 to learn acrylic painting through fun and creative weekly projects that will introduce color theory, value, composition, and texture. This class will help young artists build skills, confidence, and a love for making art!

Alternative Methods

Explore non-traditional art experiences in this class on Alternative Methods. Students will learn about different artists and experiment with their techniques like Alexander Calder’s mobiles, Louise Nevelson style sculptures, and Echer tessellations.

Make, Move, & Play

Make/Move/Play continues the playful, design-centered approach introduced in the fall. Students will explore collage, construction, shape, pattern, and a variety of materials and mediums through guided projects that encourage experimentation and creative thinking. The curriculum mirrors the fall session with thoughtful adaptations for returning students, ensuring new discoveries for everyone. All materials are provided, and no previous experience is necessary.

Nature Journaling

Deepen your connection to the natural world through the practice of nature journaling. You do not need to be an artist or a naturalist to begin. Learn how to keep an illustrated observational journal and make new connections with the world around you. Enjoy the opportunity to refine your drawing skills and experiment with new materials and techniques. Increase your skills of observation and curiosity, and enrich your discoveries with nature!
Class locations will alternate between Florence Arts and Museums sites. Class materials are provided, however students will want to bring their own (optional) outdoor supplies: pack stool or folding chair, hat, water bottle, bug spray, etc. as weather dictates. Class size limited to 8 adults.
