Muscle Shoals Chapter of the Alabama Archaeological Society: Archaeology at Pope’s Tavern

The Muscle Shoals Chapter of the Alabama Archaeological Society is hosting Archaeology at Pope’s Tavern on Sunday, March 10th at 2pm at the Florence Indian Mound Museum. Ana Peeples, Florence Arts and Museums Educator, and Clayton Davis, Historic Preservationist with the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area, will talk about Archaeology at Pope’s Tavern.

Archaeology at Pope’s Tavern is a free, public archaeology program that has been documenting the history of Pope’s Tavern since 2022. APT works to create public opportunities to learn the processes of archaeology, through excavation, cleaning and sorting of artifacts, and cataloging. APT has excavated two test units at Pope’s Tavern and documented the process and artifacts. The program is free and open to anyone.
