Artist Statement
This artwork represents a celebration of the arts in our community through the role of the Florence Arts and Museums. The focus is on how art ignites opportunities for discovery: connecting people and places, sparking an explosion of curiosity, and broadening imagination. A map of Florence serves as the base of the design and features the Tennessee River running across the landscape. I painted red pins marking each FAM establishment with lines extending outward from these points to illustrate FAM's reach throughout and beyond our community. Focus is fixed on a large eye peeking through a magnifying glass. I painted the river merging into the eye and detailed a burst of colors from the iris that spreads over the scene. These patches of color illustrate the powerful impact of art over a community and how shared ideas create bonds that push the limits of creative expression.
